Have you dreamed for years about having an elegant, affordable wedding but want to care for the planet, too? It used to be that these three concepts were at odds with one another, but today, that’s no longer the case. It’s possible to plan a sophisticated and affordable celebration that you desire and still make strategic decisions that will eliminate unnecessary burden on the environment. Today's green weddings have nothing to do with color but are about being a responsible consumer. Something Blue Colorado Planning and Design can help you create your eco-friendly and socially responsible wedding.
My Philosophy
Being a lifelong scout and a having love for the outdoors. I have always been attracted to helping the environment and helping the community any way I can. I have taken this philosophy into my business. Something Blue Colorado is based on the premise that fun, stylish events can be created without compromising environmental and social values.
Why go Green?
In the United States there are about 2.5million weddings a year. Think of all the products, chemicals, and one time use items that go into a wedding then multiply that by 2.5 million weddings. For example, if every wedding used disposable runners and then laid them out end to end, they would circle the globe twice. As you can see, weddings can have a huge impact on the environment.
In addition, traditional American weddings can generate up to 200 tons of CO2 per event, while weddings in the rest of the world average 22 tons per year. That is a big difference. There are easy ways to cut the 200 tons by at least 50% in your wedding by making a few small choices.
Also, participants and guests at green weddings tend to become more aware of the importance to go green. A green wedding can be a subtle vehicle for passing on tips and examples of what other can do at home and can provoke good ‘wedding talk’ about respecting and embracing the environment. A well-planned green wedding can save you money, too. For example, using or buying vintage items, from your wedding rings to your wedding dress, can help you save two types of green.
Every green choice makes a difference, no matter how small. You can do your part by making little choices throughout your wedding planning experience and here at Something Blue Colorado we can help make it easier for you.
